Henrietta Manning Free Press Leader.jpg

In 2003 Manning undertook a four week residency at a local boys school, both to extend her own art practice, and to engage the students in portraiture. Ten students each sat for one and a half hours for a ‘fast head’ portrait by the artist. The students were partenered to draw the outlines of each others shadow portrait and also to pose for one another. The shadow outlines were then filled with their own ideas. Finally mirrors were set up and each painted their own portrait from life.

All the students works along with their portraits by Manning were displayed in the School Expo. Two of the artists portraits were purchased for the St Joseph’s School collection.
